This photo was taken during our recent Deacon Ordination service, when four men accepted their call to service. Clearly the picture depicts an ever growing sense of encouragement for those who are serving in leadership roles as well as a renewed sense of togetherness that the congregation is now feeling. Please take a moment to express your appreciation to the Lord for all that He is doing at Morningside and for what He is about to do. Great days await us.

It's easy to see that God is changing lives and drawing people closer to Himself. That is evident all around, particularly in our student ministry.

We just had a great time in Asheville, NC talking about faith and skiing at Wolf Ridge. Our Bible Fellowships are engaging and transformative. Crash kicked off in a big way a couple of weeks ago as our middle school students began walking through books of the Bible and our High School students started learning how to defend their faith. We are even planning a high school mission trip to New Orleans this summer! Our college ministry is growing and seeing students from all over the Columbus area get involved with the ministry here. God is really up to something big here! Keep praying for our students and our adult leadership as we continue to experience God each day!

As we review 2018, it has become readily apparent how God has blessed us in so many ways. Armed with this recognition, it is fitting that we launch 2019 with a renewed spirit of love and friendship. With this focus, we are excited to announce the hosting of a Valentine's Dinner and encourage everyone to make an effort to join us for this heartwarming event.

Tickets will be $15 per person and will include a buffet dinner with choice of Country Captain with rice or Cranberry Pork Tenderloin, green beans, broccoli casserole, green salad, rolls, tea/coffee and cheesecake.  Childcare will be provided for 12 and under for $5 per child with a $15 family max and will include pizza and drinks in the CMC.  All reservations must be prepaid and completed by Sunday, February 10th.  Reserve your spot in the Gathering Room on Sundays!

Morningside Baptist Church was officially opened on August 24, 1952. Throughout these many decades, it has been a beacon of hope for our community. Included in the church was an added beacon of light with the opening of a library in 1960. In 1969, the library had approximately 1,900 books on hand. The library was further blessed to have Mrs. Joyce Weekley join its volunteer staff and effective this year, she has remained as a volunteer for 50 years! Today the library is privileged to provide in excess of 28,000 books and printed publications. Clearly Joyce has spearheaded this activity, which has been recognized throughout our region as a model church library, and she even helped to establish a library for the Columbus Baptist Association.

As impressive as the number of printed volumes is, the more impressive idea is the number of lives, both children and adults, that have been impacted by her faithful and exceptional service as she graciously guided them in their selections. Please thank her for her selfless service to the Lord and His Church and thank her and the following volunteers for their dedication to this noteworthy resource that we are so privileged to have.

    Joyce Weekley- Librarian,
Margaret Arnold, Monica Cavendar, Margaret Duncan, Pat Farmer, Shirley Messenger,
