Introducing the Masdons!

With the enthusiastic endorsement of the Elders, the Personnel Committee is thrilled to announce their final candidate for the position of Associate Pastor of NextGen & Family Ministries:

Zach Masdon is an ordained Southern Baptist pastor with extensive experience in Student and Family Ministry. Pastor Zach is a native of Hogansville, Ga. He and his family are coming to us from Columbia, South Carolina.

Get to know Pastor Zach and his family

Masdon Family

Pastor Zach and Karalee have been married for 11 years. They have served together in ministry for their entire marriage. Karalee has a passion for women's ministry, especially to young moms.

Their son, Carson, 9, loves Braves baseball, fishing, and video games. Sophia, 5, gets excited about gymnastics, swimming, and any kind of animal, especially her hermit crab, Alvin.

His Background

Pastor Zach has extensive experience in Student and Family Ministries having served in both positions in previous churches.

In his current church, he is the Student Pastor for a large student ministry.

He is finishing up a Doctor of Ministry degree at North Greenville University.

His burden

The Masdons share a strong burden to reach and disciple children, students, young adults and their families.

Pastor Zach comes to us with years of experience training and equipping leaders for service. His passion, in his own words, is "cultivating relationships" for spiritual growth: "Equipping and empowering adults and families for transformational discipleship is thrilling."

Pastor Zach's main responsibility will be championing ministry to children, students, young adults, and their families. That's a lot of people!

Rather than try to fit you all in one meeting room, we will be hosting multiple Zoom meetings for anyone interested in getting to know him better.

Special Church Conference

Pastor Jonathan and the Elders have called a Special Church Conference for Sunday, June 7, 2020, right after the morning worship service. In this Conference, Morningside members will affirm the following motion from the Personnel Committee:

We recognize and affirm the Lord's will, and call Zach Masdon to serve as

an Associate Pastor of Morningside Baptist Church.

In light of current public health guidelines, we understand that some of you may be concerned about attending this Church Conference. So we are providing two additional means of participating in this important decision. First, you can join the Church Conference via Zoom.

(We will email Zoom info to active church members on Sunday morning, June 7.)

Second, if you do not have access to Zoom, you may request an absentee ballot by contacting Carol Gallups. All ballots must be received in the church office no later than 5 pm on Thursday, June 4, 2020.
