We are so excited to welcome back Ricky Smith to our faith family as our new interim pastor. Ricky brings a contagious excitement for the Lord and His Church that is visible from miles away! In the next few months, Ricky will be leading us through passages of Scripture that will help us count the cost of discipleship, take up our crosses, and follow Jesus more closely as w...

This past week has been one of the most incredible weeks in my tenure here at Morningside. We saw 300 pastors and staff from 4 states and 2 countries (yes, you read that right, we had a participant from Toronto, Canada with us) spend time in over 30 breakout classes and hear 8 nationally known pastors and speakers all focused on church revitalization. Then we had the huge ...

Excited Expectation

I've often wondered what it was like for Paul before he began any of his 3 missionary journeys outlined in the New Testament. Did he experience any butterflies in his stomach or the nervous tension that goes with the unknown? Was he fully prepared with all the supplies he needed for his trek over land and sea? Honestly, I believe he traveled with an excited expectation of ...

It was so good to see families, old friends, and new friends all worshipping together. We had over 600 people in worship! That is incredible. I am so thankful to all of you who attended our worship service at Morningside last week. Clint and his crew did a phenomenal job on our Egg Hunt, and a great time was had by parents and children alike! Most importantly, the Gospel ...

In Ephesians 5, God, through the apostle Paul, lays out how the marriage relationship works best. If we were to sum it up in one word, it would be selfless. Husbands should love their wives as Christ loved the Church. Wives should love and honor their husbands. But God didn't move Paul to write this just to help us in our marriage; no, he wrote it so that we would better u...

Trust God Graphic

I can't even begin to imagine how difficult it was for Abraham and Sarah to trust God. He has told them that they would have a son, but every circumstance in their lives were telling them differently. They were too old. They had no children already. It couldn't be done. But the impossible became possible when in Genesis 21, we read about the birth of Isaac. God is faithful...

2 Chronicles 7:14 is a vivid picture of prayer. In this passage, we see not only the results of prayer, but the attitude in which we should approach the throne of God. As a church, let's make a new year's resolution to spend more time in prayer than in any other year of our lives. If we believe God's Word is true, then prayer is our first and only line of action in making ...
