What to expect

Welcome to the place where Columbus Worships! That's the vision: to reach a city.

Columbus boasts a ton of churches, as does every city in the South. It's the vision and reach that makes MBC unique.

MBC reaches the world with a variety of mission efforts at home and abroad. Our worship covers a broad spectrum of generations.

Thanks for stopping by the site. I look forward to seeing you soon.

When you arrive on campus...
...follow the green "first time" signs to our visitor parking lot. Our greeting team will be on the lookout for you. Our welcome center is located inside the front of our sanctuary in a place we call "The Gathering Room." Any of our greeters will be pleased to show you around campus, help you find a Sunday school class or a place for your children as well as answer any questions you may have about Morningside.

As you enter the Sanctuary...
...ushers are available to assist you with any needs or questions you may have before, during and after the service. We are happy to offer listening devices to our family and guests that are hard of hearing. Simply ask an usher or see someone at the welcome desk to borrow one.

During each service...
...we take time to welcome our first time guests, but don't worry, we don't point you out, put you on the spot or call you to the front! We simply are thrilled to have you with us, and will offer you any information you may like about Morningside. We publish a Worship Guide each Sunday in which you will find a slip of paper where we will ask you a few questions about yourself. We just want to take that opportunity to get to know you a little better and get a record of your visit with us. You can complete as much information as you feel comfortable and turn it in when the offering plates are passed at the end of the service. Speaking of the offering plate, as a guest of Morningside, we do not expect you to contribute to the offering. Feel free to sit back and relax as the offering plates are passed.

Our worship services...
We offer you two opportunities to worship with us on Sunday mornings: 8:30 and 11:00. Expect the 8:30 service, our Classic Hour, to be more traditional in terms of music and style of worship with intentional transitions. At 11:00, our Progressive Hour, join us for a more contemporary music style that starts and ends seamlessly. We have a choir, praise team and other talented musicians and singers that rotate leading the praise and worship. Our senior pastor, Thad Smith delivers the sermon. Thad is energetic, creative and genuine, and presents God's Word with passion as he relates it to where you are right now. Our goal in each service is to glorify God and worship Him with our whole hearts and minds as one big loving family.

How far in advance should I arrive?
We recommend you arrive approximately 30 minutes ahead of the service you are attending, especially if you have children you would like to take to Kid's Worship or Sunday School.

What should I wear?
Morningside is a "come as you are" church. We know that God cares about our hearts, not what style of clothing we choose to wear. But since you asked, most people come in business casual attire, but you'll see a few suits and ties as well as jeans. We just want you to come in whatever you feel comfortable wearing.

What do you have for my children to do?
Childcare is provided for infants to 4 year olds during all services. Children 5 years old to 5th grade have Sunday school at 9:45 and Kids' Worship at 11:00. On Wednesday nights during the school year, children may attend AWANA activities that begin at 6:00 p.m. During the summer, we have Columbus Kidz Music Camp from 6:15 to 7:30 p.m. in the Kids' Worship room.
We know your children are precious to you, so we provide a safe, clean and secure environment for them to enjoy. All of our children's workers go through background checks before serving in our Children's ministry. It is our pleasure to minister to your children!

Are you open if there's bad weather?
In instances of bad weather, if it is safe for you to make the drive to church, we want you to know that we are here, ready to worship with you. But please, never put yourself or others in danger to drive in unsafe weather.
